Waitākere Hospital Chapel

  • Wairua Tapu has been the backdrop for familymeetings, prayer, funerals and special cultural services. Staff also connect with the space during lunch breaks and quiet times.

Every day, our Chaplain Sione Tu’ungafasi collects anonymous prayer requests in the chapel so he can pray on behalf of staff, patients and visitors:

“Please pray that my daughter will overcome her battle of depression”

“Please help me with my sons ear check up. Please take care of him. Help us to get a good result in the upcoming check-up”

“I pray for the patients I visit today that they will get some quiet”

Thanks to our wonderful donors, together with Health New Zealand Waitematā, $300,000 was raised to make this project happen. A unique, tailor made cross was created for the beautifully re-landscaped courtyard and community groups have kindly donated sacred items and furnishings of significance from their faiths and cultures.
