An ambitious research project supported by Well Foundation has helped create one of the largest and most comprehensive datasets of joint replacement infections of its kind internationally – right here in Auckland.

Thanks to the generous support of the Hector Trust, Waitākere Hospital’s paediatric pre- and post-operative areas have been transformed into colourful, calming spaces designed to ease anxiety for young patients and their families.

Twenty years after attending the ribbon cutting to officially open the new Waitākere Hospital, Sir Bob Harvey is returning in a new role – as Patron of the Well Foundation, the official charity for Waitākere and North Shore hospitals.

Thanks to North Shore Rotary five transport ventilators could be upgraded to enable the transport of seriously unwell babies and children. These ventilators enable more seamless transport of paediatric patients between North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals and transfer of the most unwell infants to Starship Hospital.

Local North Shore resident Miguel knows first-hand the challenges of living with Kidney disease, and due to the condition requires dialysis treatment three times a week at North Shore Hospital.

For many tamariki (children) in our community, regular hospital visits for therapy are a necessary part of life, whether due to ongoing health challenges, injury, or illness.
