Therapy Playground Opens
Revamped Children’s Therapy Playground Opens at Waitākere Hospital, Thanks to Donor Support
A newly revamped children’s therapy playground has officially opened at Waitākere Hospital, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for young patients undergoing therapy after illness, accident or due to an ongoing health condition. The transformation was made possible through the collaborative efforts of generous donors, including Henderson Rotary.
For many children in the community, regular hospital visits for therapy are a necessary part of life due to ongoing health challenges, injury, or illness. The Therapy Playground is an outdoor space in the centre of the hospital and the playground was created 20 years ago by Henderson Rotary. The playground had been well used over the years but the passage of time had meant that it needed a refresh. Henderson Rotary once again committed to making the space the very best it could be for young patients and supported Well Foundation with fundraising efforts. Thanks to the community $65,000 was raised and the playground has been transformed once again into a fun, virbrant space that can be enjoyed by children when they attend hospital for their physio therapy sessions.
We wish to thank all those who have supported and donated to this project, including:

This refurbishment is more than just a makeover—it’s a commitment to ensuring young patients feel safe, comfortable, and supported during their therapy sessions. The new playground stands as a testament to the power of community support and the positive impact that donor contributions can have on the lives of children and their families who need the care of our local hospitals.
