Thanks to the incredible generosity of private donors, Well Foundation has helped bring the da Vinci surgical robot to our public hospital system — a first for New Zealand. The da Vinci Robot is a state-of-the-art surgical system that allows surgeons to perform complex procedures through just a few tiny incisions. Offering greater vision, precision, and control, this minimally invasive technology leads to faster recovery times, reduced hospital stays, and better outcomes for patients.

Robotic surgery: transforming surgical care.

Transforming surgery for our community

Until now, this advanced technology has only been available in New Zealand’s private healthcare system, creating inequity for those unable to afford private surgery. Thanks to the support of our donors, seed funding to bring enable this innovative technology was made possible and meant it could be made available in the public health system for the first time.

Early results show a 47% reduction in blood loss for robotic-assisted prostatectomies compared to traditional open surgery and Hospital stays have been reduced by 40%, helping patients recover and return home sooner.

A better future, made possible thanks to the generosity of donors from our community.
