Whānau rooms provide comfort for loved ones in hospital.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the new Hospital facility, Tōtara Haumaru, features five specially designed rooms — private, welcoming spaces where whānau can stay close to loved ones during critical care or end-of-life moments. Each room includes a private entrance, sleeping space, a kitchenette, and direct access to the patient’s room — all thoughtfully designed to make a difficult time a little easier. Thank you to our donors for making this gift of care, comfort, and connection possible.

Whānau rooms also known as Nohoanga Haumaru.

These purpose-built rooms provide a private, comfortable retreat where families can remain close to their loved one, while also having the space they need to rest, reflect, and support each other during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Thank you to our donors for helping us create a hospital where whānau (family) can care, connect, and find comfort together.
